You need a 4-port RAID controller, if:

  1. You want to use virtualization on the server.
  2. You want to improve the reliability of the drives to keep the data safe. A hardware RAID controller is more reliable than a software one. In this case, drives are paired, which helps to relieve the load on the server's processor.

Important! To install a controller on a server, you have to be on the flexi-pack plan (€15/month).

How to install a RAID controller

For a new server:

  1. When ordering a server, you will receive a list of additional services. Add the controller from the list. Its price will be added to your invoice automatically.
  2. If you have already ordered additional hard drives, and you need custom drive partitioning, please specify it in the comment.

For an existing server:

  1. First, submit a ticket. Our specialists will issue an invoice.
  2. Pay the invoice and add a comment to the ticket.
  3. Confirm that you agree to lose all your data on the server. To install the controller, we will have to reinstall the system. Complete the verification.
  4. Schedule the server downtime for controller installation.
  5. We will notify you when the installation is over via the ticket.

Important! It is impossible to install a hardware RAID controller on servers with pre-installed NVMe drives.
